By submitting a job to the Website, the Client is authorising SECTRE to post such vacancy and submit Candidates (according to the conditions stipulated in the signed contract supplied to the Client).
The Client is responsible for the content of the vacancy and will indemnify SECTRE against any claim, loss, liability, expense and/or damage in connection therewith.
The Client shall provide sufficient details about itself and the vacancy in order for SECTRE to appropriately advertise for the vacancy and submit Candidates to the Client. The details should include, but are not limited to, a brief job description, the nature of the Client’s business, the nature of the role, the type of work to be performed, the commencement date, the likely duration, the location, and the remuneration.
The Client will comply with all applicable laws relating to the job posting.
The Client accepts responsibility for any detriment which it may suffer or incur in respect of the engagement of an applicant and shall hold SECTRE harmless against any losses in connection therewith as stipulated within the contract between SECTRE and the Client. The Client shall use all reasonable endeavours to ascertain that it will not be detrimental to the interests of the applicant it intends to engage (if any) to work for the Client in the vacancy posted.
SECTRE reserves the right in its sole and absolute discretion to remove any job at any time without reason. Examples of jobs that may be removed include, but are not limited to:
those that SECTRE considers illegal, inappropriate or fraudulent
those that have been indiscriminately posted or duplicated across multiple sectors
those that advertise multiple positions in a single job posting
Some jobs posted on this Website can be published on third party partner Websites, such as job aggregators. However, Candidates can apply for such jobs only via this Website.
SECTRE reserves the right to remove a job posting from the Website if it does not comply with these terms and conditions.
SECTRE reserves the right to post job placement holding positions in order to prepare for the provision of urgent placements and provide candidates with sample vacancies as a tool to attract potential candidates. Such placeholder jobs will be shown as closed or awaiting confirmation.
It is SECTRE’s sole discretion to pay individuals a referral bonus for referring Candidates or Employers to SECTRE.
Referral bonuses are only paid on permanent (including permanent-rotational) placements and are not applicable to contract or temporary work.
The Referrer and Referee cannot be the same person.
You cannot refer a Candidate that is already registered with SECTRE.
A Candidate must never previously have been a Candidate with SECTRE and have accepted a job offer for full time or permanent employment of an indefinite term.
The Candidate employed must verify the person who referred him/her to SECTRE during the registration process in order for referral bonuses to be deemed valid.
Referral bonuses for both Candidate and Employer referrals are only paid after completion of the probation period as determined within the SEA or contract for the Candidate placed.
You are limited to one Candidate referral bonus for each Candidate (i.e. future accepted job offers from a Candidate will not qualify for additional Candidate referral bonuses).
Eligibility is not limited to current Candidates of SECTRE.
We reserve the right to cancel, reduce, or change the amount of the Candidate referral bonus or stop offering the Candidate referral bonus at any time.
Candidates must notify SECTRE if:
they accept a job offer,
any change is made to their probation period or their probation status,
they decide to terminate their employment prior to completing their probation period,
they have completed their probation period.
Failure to comply with 11.1.1 to 11.1.4 may impact the Candidate’s entitlement to the signing bonus.
Candidates placed by SECTRE will only be paid a signing bonus once they have completed their mandatory probation period as defined in each Candidate’s SEA or contract. SECTRE shall inform Candidates should our Client make any alterations to the agreed probation period or known date of probation completion.
The signing bonus is only applicable to permanent (including permanent-rotational) positions and is not applicable to temporary or contract work.
The percentage signing bonus is currently set at 10% of the gross monthly salary package up to and not exceeding €1000. This value is, however, still unique to each placement and the amount paid remains at the discretion of SECTRE.
In the event that the Candidate does not act in good faith regarding a signed and executed job offer, and SECTRE becomes aware of it, the Candidate shall not be entitled to receive any signing bonus.
In the event that the Candidate’s probation period is extended for any reason, including but not limited to poor performance or an onboard grievance, the payment of the signing bonus will be made at the discretion of SECTRE.
A signing bonus will be paid, up to a period of no longer than 3 months, after the completion of a Candidate's probation period. SECTRE will, in all cases, strive to pay each candidate their signing bonus within this time period, but SECTRE reserves the right to not pay the signing bonus should this period have passed or for any other justifiable reason.
Candidates are to be offered the choice of how their SECTRE signing bonus is paid. These options are as follows:
Paid to themselves
Paid to a SECTRE charity partner – Surfers Not Street Children

The company or vessel logo must be hidden from view, otherwise a non-branded item of clothing must be worn. Passport photos, CV photos, and previously received profile photos will not be accepted. Should a candidate be away from their place of work, they will either need to wait to take the photo when they return or provide a photo in a similar maritime environment, e.g., in a marina, a shipyard, a maritime training college, or onboard a similar vessel. SECTRE reserves the right to accept or reject a supplied photograph.
Candidates are to provide SECTRE with their banking details. SECTRE will not be held liable should this information be provided in error for whatever reason.
Candidates are to provide feedback on the SECTRE recruitment process via the SECTRE signing bonus form.
The signing bonus payment will only be paid after the successful completion of all of the above requirements.SECTRE reserves the right to withhold the signing bonus payment should the above requirements not be met.
All social media posts will be made without company or vessel names, unless permission has been granted by the Candidate, company or vessel. SECTRE accepts no liability on behalf of a Candidate or charity from the uploading of a social media post which is done in good faith and in accordance with these terms.
SECTRE understands that some candidates may not have an Instagram or LinkedIn account and may not be active on social media. However, following and posting to these social media accounts is a mandatory requirement of the signing bonus program. SECTRE may consider allowing Candidates to post to a Facebook account as an alternative, but this remains at SECTRE’s discretion.
If a candidate has been paid their signing bonus and then chooses to unfollow a SECTRE social media account, the candidate will not qualify to be paid a future signing bonus should this candidate be placed by SECTRE at a later stage. This includes all social media platforms that were followed as part of the signing bonus payment process.
SECTRE offers Candidates the opportunity to donate their signing bonus to charities which SECTRE has partnered with. Any funds donated to a SECTRE partnered charity are made without any conditions attached and are to be given in good faith for the charity to use at their discretion. SECTRE will, however, accept requests from Candidates as to where they would like the funds to be allocated, but no guarantee is given in this regard.
Candidates who elect to donate their signing bonus to a charity are provided the option of reposting the SECTRE post of their donation and will not need to provide a photograph. SECTRE will create a post informing our followers that a donation was made by one of our placed candidates to the charity. It is the Candidate’s decision if they would like SECTRE to mention their name (and tag) in this post and whether they would like the donation to remain anonymous with the charity.
Once completed and submitted, the SECTRE signing bonus form is final. Any change in the manner in which the signing bonus is to be paid will be at the discretion of SECTRE. SECTRE will not allow changes if a payment has already been made to a Candidate or charity. Similarly, no changes will be allowed should SECTRE have already posted about the Candidate’s signing bonus on social media.
SECTRE accepts no liability whatsoever on behalf of a Candidate’s tax obligation by SECTRE paying the Candidate a signing bonus and/or a Candidate accepting the signing bonus. The same applies to the payment of signing bonuses to a SECTRE charity. Candidates are advised to consult their tax adviser prior to opting in to be paid their signing bonus.
SECTRE reserves the right to cancel, reduce, or change the amount of the signing bonus or to stop offering the signing bonus at any time without advance notice.
